Study Finds That Most US Students Won’t Buy Macs

Retrevo has released a new Gadgetology study revealing that US students are less into netbooks than they are into regular-sized laptops. Apple covers this niche in the market quite well, but Retrevo claims the majority of student laptop shoppers are not considering the acquisition of a Mac for their activities. According to the report, studies indicated that 34% of the US students buying laptops were planning on purchasing small, lightweight netbooks, with another 49% buying full-sized laptops, such as the Apple MacBook. However, this time around, “The majority of student laptop shoppers will not consider buying a Mac,” the Retrevo report reads. Retrevo touts itself as the ultimate electronics marketplace that makes finding, buying and using electronics products simple and fun. “While Apple has done well historically in the education market, 2009 marks the dawn of the netbook,” Vipin Jain, Retrevo CEO, says. “Students told us they wanted longer battery life, smaller size, and a lighter laptop. 58% of them plan on spending less than $750.00.
